With a lifetime of participation in team and individual sports, cardio, and weight training, exercise and wellness have long been a key part of my lifestyle, and for a brief period, my livelihood in the retail program with Nordic Track in the early 1990’s. My yoga journey began in 2005 at Yoga 101 in Evansville, IN. I quickly found that the hot yoga practice, based on the Jimmy Barkan methods, improved my flexibility, helped me control my weight, and enhanced my overall wellness. I continue to be drawn to the hot room for the physical nature of the postures and the cleansing benefits of a great sweat.

I took the next step in the journey when I began teaching at Yoga 101 in 2010, and I continue to learn and grow my practice each time I step into the studio, whether as a student or as an instructor. With a day job in the corporate world, yoga is not my vocation, but definitely my avocation. My style and personality lead me to go with and be in the flow while in the studio. I’ve been known to have random thoughts pop into my head and out of my mouth while teaching, which may or may not be directly associated with yoga, but somehow fit and make sense with where the energy of the room is at that given moment. This is all part of what makes this practice such a truly great experience. I believe it is important to approach the practice of yoga with an open and light heart; yoga should foster joy, not drudgery.

I completed my initial Broga® training in Nashville, TN in December 2013, and I believe that I am the first licensed Broga® instructor in the state of Indiana. I will begin my 200-hour RYT training in the April 2014. A native of Indianapolis, IN, I’ve been in the Evansville area since 1998. My wife Karen and I have made 4 “pilgrimages” to Ireland since 2003, and continue to have an avid interest in our Irish heritage. That has come to include our Irish Red and White Setter, Clancy, an addition to the family in 2011.
